Mind you that the original component series had no separate crossovers but their sound was separated by the original amp.

So if the idea is to use the original speakers it might still be a good idea to use the feeble old amp.

I still say ditch everything and build a nice system with good metal coated woofers, dome tweeters, separate crossovers for each set of speakers, the deck of your dreams and no amps to cause you trouble.
