When it comes time to put the seat back in, use a piece of clean carboard to cover the battery chamber and place the seat on top, plug the seat back in, reconnect the post and run the seat forward about 2", this makes reinstallation much easier. Once moved forward disconnect the battery post again! You don't want to short the battery terminals with the metal parts of the seat during reinstallation. There are 2 hoops the rods poking out the back of the seat must interlink to on the back of the seat. There are 2 lower anchors also that the seat rails (for forward/reverse) lock into on the backside.
Bryan the humming/buzzing in the driver door may be the soleniod for the power door locks or the window lift motor. Try disconnecting these items and see if the noise disappears.
One more thing. My 92's have a special hoop like device made of 1/2 rod bolted to the outside of the seat. If you have this device in your earlier model, you'll see this as you are trying to remove the seat cusion. The Bentley doesn't incorporate this and also has an instruction to remove some piece of plastic trim and seat motion knobs which is not required in my cars. This rod hoop mechanism prevents the seat from moving out of it's normal location during a crash, presumeably if the occupant isn't belted.
Guy
I do have power seats I just can't move them to get to the battery.
