In your experience so far, what is the capacity for the Bilstein/H&R setup to handle weight added to the rear (trunk and/or heavy passengers)? Does the rear end stay level?

It is about time I replaced my shocks/springs and have been advised by many to switch to Bilstein/H&R all around.
However, I am very impressed by the ability for the LAD to accomodate added weight in the rear . . . even though my 1990 750iL still has the OE shocks.

As an example, I recently went to the Garden Materials Yard to buy some small-sized gravel -- and ended up getting 8 bags at 65lb/29.5kg each. So I stuffed 520lb/236kg in the trunk -- by the time I was done loading, the fenders had swallowed a good part of the upper rear tires. The rear was sagging. But I confidentally started 'er up and the LAD shocks raised the rear end back to normal -- about 2 inches/5cm.

Anyway, this is a great feature. However, I rarely do this to my car, rarely have one other person in my car, let alone several others. I would love to improve the handling, etc., so I like the idea of the non-LAD shocks, but man, this load compensation is sure nice.

What are you thoughts?
Thanks.

Jason Ferguson
