Remote Controller for Central Door Locking (archive)

Gentlemen,

I own a '90 730i with one litlle problem. The remote controller won't work. Bought a new remote for about $200,- at my local BMW-dealer. No effect, went back with the car and the remote to let them take a look at it. But even the head mechanic couldn't locate the problem, it has nothing to do with the initalisation of the remote. Only when I bring the car for a couple of days, it can be fixed. The problem is that the dealer charges about $ 60 per hour.

I think it has something to do with the IR reciever in the dashboard airvent or the Reciever in the roof near the interior lighting. These parts are also very expensive to buy.

Any one of you experienced the same problem or might know the solution? Please help......
