I am not sure how the fuel-sensor on the Bimmers are. But I guess if they consist of a floater that moves as the level in the tank goes up and down.... Then I guess this can get stuck on Bimmers too.

Mine is a bit strange too. But in a quite other way. It goes a bit too soon down on the gauge. I usually get close to the last marker before the orange light too early, and the OBC says 40km range left (25 miles). But I can drive much more that that before the orange light comes on.
