Hi,

BMW posted a bulletin about this some time ago for service people in case customers complained about bad smells from the AC. Apparently condensation in the air ducts encourages mildew growth. Their advice is to remove the microfilter, turn the fan on high, and spray "widely available" disenfectant in the air intake. They don't say what kind but I assume Lysol or something like that would work. Then replace the mocrofilter with a new one.

Hope this helps,
Stu
