This sounds very similar to mine. I'm 90% sure that the MAF's are original. If the Bentley procedure does is not the end-all, do you know of another test that should be done?

The mechanic did find that the rubber bonnets that the MAF are attached to were split and installed new ones.

Keith,
I had a very similar situation with my 91 750 last year. After warming up one bank turned off (no EML light!).After checking various codes, sensors, switches etc. for 2 months and spending several hundred $ I gave up and brought the car to the specialist. Turned out to be defective MAF on one side. Please note- the wire glowed as per Bentley. If your maf's are original it is a probability. Just my $0.02.

I have an 88 750IL that has been in the shop for the past 3 months. The car will starts and runs fine from cold... but after running for a while the left bank begins to run very rich. The mechanic has given up. He has replaced the oxygen sensors. Then he replaced other parts in the car with parts from a 750 that runs fine (including the engine control units). Still the left bank of the engine runs rich (seeming not to run at all). He synchonized the throttles also (evidently doing this on a 750 is a unique process).

So after 3 months in the shop, I have the car back with no clue how to get it fixed.

Can anyone help?
