Where did you get the new diff? is it Dinan or another 3rd party shop? Also, if you don't mind, what do they run. Finally, out of your your upgrades, where would you say you got the biggest bang for the buck? I've just started looking at 93-94 740 performance upgrades, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of choices.... am I missing something?

Thanks,
Jeff

I paid $2850 for my new differential plus installation (another $400). However, my car did not have limited slip before the changeover so I get the benefit of better straight line acceleration plus better acceleration out of corners. I decided to go with a local mechanic that does nothing but build racing differentials and some sideline work for the BMW dealer. He warranties his work for three years. Having the mechanic locally was important to me and he had a good reputation with clients all over the country. I had the dealer remove and reinstall the differential after it was rebuilt. Going with my own differential rather than another rebuild eliminated the danger of flanges not matching with a different unit. Note, the screws on the 740 differential's come with two different thread patterns. Make sure they note which pattern is on your car if you have this work done.

I would say the most bang for the buck is with the Dinan chip. If I had already had limited slip, I would then go with the free-flow exhaust.

I've not tried it yet, but I think the Dinan high stall converter replacement for the stock torque converter would yield good dividends in the 0-60 testing.

All in all, I'm happy with my conversion project thus far. As I mentioned, the only negative is somewhat more gear whine. I think the Dinan exhaust will take care of that.
