Not to sway your decision on a possible excellent 740, but I have an superb 89 750iL for sale.

For a quick description it has only 106K miles, full Dinan lowered suspension, Dinan tuned and maintained, (I still have most if not all reciepts from Dinan), PIAA Super Plasma bulbs, Tri-Flo cat back exhaust, upgraded to Sony CD stereo and babied.

Only down side versus the 740 you are prospecting about is I only have 16" BBS wheels for it but also might consider adding another set of 19" Hartge Classic wheels but at premium price.
