Yes, I agree. I am perpared to replace that box someday soon. On note that may be relavent. When backing out of my space (lunch time trip) I thought about the stuck valve idea and made sure that I turned the wheel to the right (easy direction) until the box/suspension was against the limit stop. My thought was that this extra stain might free the the stuck valve. Also, when I drive, I NEVER strain the box against the limit stops. I am sure my wifes does not worry about that kind of thing and may have turned hard against the stop. Who knows. Just a thought.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but internal failures of steering boxes, while clearning up spontaneously like yours, probably will come back. Perhaps it was just a speck of dirt, or a stuck part, but my hunch is the problem will start recurring with increasing frequency over time. I'd just be prepared to loose power assist at any time.
