Many variables determine battery life. In my case, I have had anywhere from 1-7 years on various vehicles over the years.

Generally speaking, lead acid batteries last the longest when you keep them fully charged. If you over-charge them though, you produce excessive gassing which eventually leads to electrolyte loss decreasing battery life... so whenever you charge, try to use a trickle charger if possible (over-night works well). You should also avoid deep dis-charges, especially in cold weather because a weak battery subjected to freezing temperatures can easily be permanently damaged (structurally). If you are concerned about your battery you might want to check the alternator belt and possibly stop by a battery shop to have your charging system checked (free where I live).
