This was BMW's first M-car, first produced in 1978, and then into the early 80's. It had the 286hp motor later found in the E28 M5 and E24 M6.
It was pretty fast for it's time with 0-60 times in the low to mid 5's. You can still pick one up. You seem them for sale here and there.
