Depends on what you mean. If you want to just pull off the throttle housing (that would be with the four 10mm bolts to the intake manifold), spraying carburator cleaner on the thing to get all the carbon out of it is ok and will probably be good. I was stupid enough to think I could pull the motor assembly apart and after several attempts to get them working I called stockton auto in Ca and got two used ones. (yes that means I f**cked up BOTH of them). I have since found a post at bmwseven.com regarding this issue and I will be looking to bring my wayward throttle units back to life. More to follow... In short, unless they're dead, don't mess with them, beyond the aforementioned uninvasive cleaning...After looking through the archives at info about the PCV valve, someone questioned about cleaning the DK motors regularly.....how is this done and what do you use?
Also, fuel consumption has dropped 5 mpg in the last month....could this be caused by bad O2 sensor(s)? It is on a 88 750iL with 145,000 on it. I don't know when the sensors were last changed. It is on my list to do in the next month or so but might have to step up in priority shortly.
Thanks to everyone.
Brian
