I had some of the same symptons that you have, i.e. resetting odometer, gauges going wacky, and the never-ending chime. After replacing the four 220uf caps, all problems ceased. There's lots of info out there on how to replace the caps. I would suggest getting 105C and 25V caps if possible.

Sorry. Hit the enter button too soon the last time.
My problem is with my cluster. It started out about 3-4 weeks ago, I noticed the trip odometer was reseting itself every time I start the car. Then, after a week or so of that, when I start it in the morning, the Odometer, The Gear selection indicator, the gas gauge, and the Onboard Display dont come on until like 45 seconds after the car has started. Ocassionaly now also when they come on the Display is in German also. It is fine when only turned off for a few hours, it's only when its been off for a while that it does this.
Is this the famous Cluster Capacitors failure, or is this a sign of a low Car Battery? I would assume the Caps, but I have also read here about all kinds of display problems associated with low batterys.
If anyone has encountered this same problem, I would be grateful for any advice that could be rendered.

Thanks in Advance
Slash
