That is the ultimate bitch. BMW service quoted me $14 for the gasket and 12 (twelve) hours labor at $80/hr. No, I don't think this is for the DIYer. Mine upper oil pan gasket weeps, but doesn't leak. No oil on the driveway yet. I just switched over to Mobil 1 500 miles ago, and still no leaks. I was worried the better oil might exacerbate the leak, luckily it hasn't happened.

Unless you upper oil pan gasket is leaking like a syve (spelling??) I would leave it alone.
Does any one have a good drawing or picture of the upper oil pan? I am trying to see I can fix a leak and I want to figure out if this is a DIY job. Thanks...
