750il upper oil pan gasket leak (archive)

My 92 750il has a bad oil leak from the gasket on the "upper"
oil pan gasket , around the front driver's side.

An experienced independent BMW mechanic in my area says he can remove the upper oil pan by removing the front motor mounts and lifting up on the motor, he says the transmission does not need to be removed. I wanted to verify this, since I have seen messages posted on this board
that the transmission on a 750 had to be removed to do this repair.
I am afraid that he will get started on this job and "discover" that it is more involved and expensive that he expects.

Thank you in advance for your help...

Mark
