I think you'll find that BMW will tell you that any where in the white is acceptable!! Bit of a surprise really but that's what I was told from BM UK. Mines done exactly the same!! Seems to function alright, pulls well, doesn't over heat,
no pressure in the hoses etc etc.
An interesting comment was passed on mine that a weak mixture can cause this. I was advised that the CO level should be adjusted to 1% not under,not over exactly 1% mine is adjusted to this and runs fine!(new airflow meter and all that!!)
