Anyways, the mysterious white plug I think is for a reverse-lock relay for the automatic gearlever that are present in some (older?) models than ours. I saw one such device in the schematics for some automatic and it would make sense that it would have 3 wires. Ground, +Battery and on/off control from the TCM. But no guarantee :)
I opened up the center console (didn't break/chip the wood inlay thanks to your advice) and cleaned everything up. Sprayed contact cleaner and used some bulb grease where appropriate. It wasn't too dirty, dust, hair, and a little Coke.
I think I noticed something with the cruise control, at least with my car. OK, you can't activate it below 40 mph or something like that, which is in the manual. It seems on my car that if I try to activate it at the lower speed (below 40 mph), the cruise control won't work later once I'm at cruising speed. Once the car is re-started and I try the cruise control at cruising speed, it's fine.
OJ, I saw in your jpeg with the console open, there is a white plug with 3 wires (black, brown, green, I believe). What is that for - mine wasn't plugged into anything, nor was yours?
