I bought a 1970 Euro 2000 when I was 20 and in college. The car was really clean and had the same drive trane as the 2002. I was also working but this car put me in the poor house really fast. Since I was working and in college when it needed a major repair it had to be hired out. The head/valve rebuild, and clutch replacement cost $900 in 1980. Fortunately there was an independent mech that was the former service manager a the local BMW stealer in Knoxville, TN that would work with people. As much money as that car took to keep on the road, I still loved it and wish I still had it. My advice is ask your M&D for a Bentley manual and lot of tools for your B'day and XMAS. Good Luck.

Hey, I was considering buying a 1988 735i with 150-160k miles. I'm only 17 years old but I really like BMWs and this car is just within my price range. Can anyone advise me as to wether or not this is a car that will be too expensive for me to maintain? I make about 7.50 an hour and i have to pay 60% of my paycheck to my parents to pay them back for the car. The car is in PERFECT condition, it's like brand new. Please someone email me or post a follow up with advice. Thanks.
