The AP Lockheed rotors (cross drilled after the rotors are cast) also look that way before installation. After use they look the same as the original rotors (cast iron).

I believe the Brembo rotors (the floating ones, aka the Porsche kit - not the OEM quality ones) also has holes cast into them in the casting process?

have you seen the BMP cross drilled copper colored ones? Are they a bit tacky?
