Thanks for the welcome, Paul!
I've just seen the post regarding the meet in Sept. and I'd be pleased to get down, if I can (I'm in deepest Scotland). FYI, the idle problem was the, wait for it, fuel filter - changed it today and so far so good ;-). Also changed the capacitors in my computer (success) and reset the service light using the resistive sprag between pins 7&19 (success - are reset tools a rip off or what?). All in all a good day, thanks to yourselves.Iain
Iain,
Glad you got all your problems sorted out, it's a nice feeling isn't it? I actually have one of the service resetting tools back from when I had my old E23 735i, so I use that. I was a bit concerned about the resistive short method when I heard of it, but like most improvisations, it seems to work for those who have tried it.
You are quite a way away up there in the highlands aren't you? Maybe a mid-country meet might happen at some point that all us UK guys can try to make, we'll see. Anyway, good luck with the motor.
Paul.
