I think many/most E32s exhibit this trait when the transmission is cold. Mine did this even after a full rebuild.


I just traded my '93 525i for a 93 740iL. My 525i transmission was flawlessly smooth....the 740iL has a "hesitate-grab" quality especially in the lower gears (2nd, 3rd). Is this a normal/typical feel? As the car heats up it gets better. Do any experienced owners know what I should expect and feel? Or do I need to rush back to the dealership and demand an inspection? Thanks in advance for your input!
