Has anyone noticed if the chrome metal stem under the tranny shift handle is hot after the car has been parked for several minutes, or maybe half an hour. It is as if driving down the road, the tranny cooler works well, because the shift lever will cool down during the drive at highway speeds. But when the car is parked, heat is exchanged from the tranny into the lever and presumably other parts in contact with the tranny, so that when you come back from the donut shop to restart the car, the metal part of the shift lever is hot until you get back on the highway.
