My lever sometimes gets almost too hot to touch!

If I drive at a steady pace at highway it can be cool to touch; not even body temp, but if I start redlining the car or drive around town (even if I'm not fooling with the 300hp) it heats up to REALLY hot state.

I know my gear oil and filter desperatedly need changing so I thought it's crappy oil and a clogged filter causing the heat - and some of it likely transferring from the engine - so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a hot lever.

I'm just worried that if the lever gets nearly too hot to touch then the actual transmission must be running at amazing temperature and although gear oil is supposed to get around +300 C (I think) this much heat can't be healthy to the tranny.
