Yes, there was a problem with oil to the rockers and camshaft. I think you can buy a modified bolt(banjo bolt?) to fix the problem. The original assembly tended to work loose. Very expensive if not fixed as the camshaft will wear.There is more info in the archives.

Hi,
Just completed an oil change on my 1989 730i 96000k. I thought the inside of the rocker shaft cover seemed a little dryish. I heard somewhere that there can be an oil feed blockage to the shaft. Any ideas please???
