but Ifeel your pain. The second time around on the repair circuit comes too frequently, but I guess I'll hang in there for now. I don't know what else I could get that relates the miles and dollars. Even with high repair costs its less than a new anything.

Thanks for your help. Good luck.

Well, after five years and 154k miles of ownership I am calling it quits with my 1992 735i. I was performing the weekly check on the fluids and tires and noticed oil in the coolant reservoir. I suspect that the head gasket has failed again. I replaced the head gasket two years ago for the same problem.

While the car is wonderful to drive when everything is working properly, this is becoming an all to infrequent occurrence. You replace the front suspension, then the head gasket fails. You replace the head gasket, then the A/C compressor fails. You replace the A/C compressor, then the driveshaft needs replaced. You replace the driveshaft, then the air flow meter fails. The list goes on. I had hoped to keep the car until 300k but that doesn't appear to be financially prudent.

I plan to replace the head gasket next weekend then sell the car. Hopefully, I can also fix some of the nagging little problems that I have been putting off for some time. Its replacement will certainly be less fun but also less intrusive on the finances.

I won't be leaving the BMW fold completely as I will be keep the '02. It really is fun to drive and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that are expensive to repair.

Good luck and many thanks to all on the board.

Regards

Alex Lynch
