Removing seat rails (archive)

Need to remove my seat from the seat rail to replace broken seat recliner motor gear (and I am going to replace cables at the same time!!). Does anyone know how to remove the seat rail retainers without the special BMW tool? If so let me know. I need to speed up this job because I have no front passenger seat at the moment on my road car.
