For all you wood refinishers out there. Really rather easy and adds a of fresh look to the interior.
1. With a small hook tool gently pull wood trim from doors and dash. The long piece over the glove box is screwed from the backside and is hard to remove. I masked and taped around it and refinished it inside the car.
2. Sand with 220 wet sandpaper until all old finish is removed.
3. Apply "Minwax Polyshades" polyurethane and stain in one step. I used Antique Walnut gloss 440. It's also available in satin. Looks just like the wood grain in the new 7's.
4. Let dry for a day then gently sand again.
5. Spray with "Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane" (Gloss) for a harder finish and to protect from sunlight, moisture, and temperature.
6. Dry for at least a day then reinstall in car.
Note: If you don't want the glossy look of the new cars don't use this method.
Note 2: If you break the little white plastic retainer clips they are available at the dealer. I have several left over. Bought six I think and broke only one. E-mail me and I will let you have my leftovers if you break any.
