Mind you that if you decide to remove the aftermarket alarm, there is something I should point out:

Often in aftermarkeet alarm installations there is an immobilizer function. This is gained by routing some of the car's vital wiring (usually either fuel pump relay power or starter relay power wire) via the alarm which then works as an extra relay.

If you simply remove the alarm, the wire used for immobilazion won't have contact and the car will never run again (untill you pay $2000 in labour to someone that will have the patience to find the correct wire ends and reconnect them)

So be careful!

oh, and 1987 e32 manual DID mention alarm as an option. If there is one it WILL have the BMW roundel or product number, otherwise it's aftermarket.
