I have a 94 i (no power seats of course), and just did this recently, maybe it'll help. Do you have the seatbelt shoulder harness coming out of the top of the seat? If so, CAREFULLY use a large screwdriver to snap the cosmetic cover on those up and out and just slide them down the belt out of the way, use a leather glove or something on the deck underneath the screwdriver to keep the screwdriver from buthchering it up. Underneath the headrest (which you found out just pop out) there is another cosmetic cover, I also popped these out. There were four small bolts with nylon caps holding at the bottom of seat holding it in place, two on the far left and right, near the doors at the bottom of the seat, and two more in the middle under the armrest area I think. Once these are removed, then the seat will just pop up. It did take some force, in fact 'reseating' it when I was done took just as much force. When its all apart it actually makes sense how well I think its engineered. Wouldnt find a doemstic that comes apart like that. Feel free to call or email if you get stuck, 717.242.3917.Stu

I was trying to remove the rear seat and I got the bottom half off but I can't get the barkrest off. I spent almost an hour trying to get it out (and not break anything) The Bentley manual says that it should slide on up but it doesn't seem to work. I even got the back headrests out but was I supposed to take the plastic trim out also? Help me please!!! Yes, I got the center armrest out and two nuts on both sides.
