While the car is wonderful to drive when everything is working properly, this is becoming an all to infrequent occurrence. You replace the front suspension, then the head gasket fails. You replace the head gasket, then the A/C compressor fails. You replace the A/C compressor, then the driveshaft needs replaced. You replace the driveshaft, then the air flow meter fails. The list goes on. I had hoped to keep the car until 300k but that doesn't appear to be financially prudent.
I plan to replace the head gasket next weekend then sell the car. Hopefully, I can also fix some of the nagging little problems that I have been putting off for some time. Its replacement will certainly be less fun but also less intrusive on the finances.
I won't be leaving the BMW fold completely as I will be keep the '02. It really is fun to drive and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that are expensive to repair.
Good luck and many thanks to all on the board.

I really hate to see you leave us. You have been an inspiration to many of us and especially me when you helped solve my overheating problem a couple of months ago. I'll never forget it and that is the kind of thing that makes this board so special. I have to get my daily fix.
Give some consideration to the six series coupe as they are a bit less complicated than the seven series and not as burdoned with as many gadgets and electrical nightmares and certainly will increase in value due to their exclusivity only 86,000 in 13 years.
Best of luck hope you find a good one of whatever you decide upon.
