Adrian, I don't think you are going to have any major difficulties other than accelerated wear on a part you will be replacing in 24 hours anyway. As long as the self-locking nuts, etc., are all torqued to spec (or maybe Loctite'd if you think the nylon has been completely compromised) then you should be OK for the short time you are talking about. The grease provides lubrication and the boot provides corrosion/dirt protection - neither provides structural integrity. Make sure you clean the female portion of the joint in the steering arm well before reassembly with the new parts and sleep well.'88 750iL
I was trying to replace the lower control arm today and made a big mistake.
I ripped the existing balljoint and could not get the control arm replaced. I need to drive tomorrow. Is it okay to drive with ball joint seeping grease out?
I will try to replace it tomorrow but in the mean time, I need to drive. I just couldn't get the bolts out for the strut mount to the control arm ball joints.
Stupidity I know.......
