Have you checked continuity of the exhaust/engine to the body? Hate for an earth-loop to cause a voltage drop on you...

I continue to retrieve a fault code 1264 O2 sensor heater on my 89 735iL. I have replaced the O2 sensor, but the code still remains stored. I have motronic v.1.3, and I am not sure how to clear the code. The code repeats indefinitely, until I turn the key off. I have followed the Bentley troubleshooting guide for the O2 sensor, and all voltages are correct, and I have continuity where I am supposed to. I am not sure if I have a problem with the O2 sensor circuit, or a problem releasing an old code?
