I have been recently looking at many E32's and i have to tell you guys have it made. The four door flagships are on a elevated plain over any caddy or buick roaming around. I would like to get in on the ball with my own.
Anything to look for as a new E32 buyer. I have been through the ropes with the E21 and E30's. But i'm looking for a 88-89 project. Once again they look great and how can you go wrong wiht the v-8 or even the v-12?

Use the page's search engine, you'll find tons of stuff to consider when buying one.
the one thing in common with all answers is:
HAVE IT PRE-PURCHASE CHECKED AT DEALER'S OR E32 SPECIALISTS!!!
As TotalBMW magazine from UK put it: a total wreck can still ride like a dream. So you can't just follow your instinct.
The V8 production started... hmmm let's see... I think in 1994 so if you're considering an earlier model then those weren't available yet. The 6-banger seems pretty solid - well they had at that point already been making it over a decade with minor changes - and is considered a more economical workhorse. If you want bang for your buck then putting 12 pistons under the hood to wiggle your cardane axle is the answer. The sheer thrill of hearing the starter go off (sounds like a bloody jet engine) and the double sixpack exploding to life with a very very silent deep purr... ready to unleash a megalomanic 300hp/450Nm for your pleasure.... I can't put it to words, go test drive one. Flip that little switch near the gear selector to "S" for sport and get ready for the ride of your life!!!
The most usual stuff is electrical gremlins (common in all used cars and especially ones so loaded with gizmos), suspension parts needing replacement, LAD (rear shock levelling system) leaking, water pumps and radiators which are the heel of Akilles for these cars (you WOULD expect to get a bit better pump and rad if the car costs $160,000 and the pump is made by Bugatti) and especially in the monster-engined 750i the cardane might need some attention after over a decade of ENORMOUS torque from the idle up.
It's gonna cost you a lot but I guarantee it's worth every penny!

Spent over $2000 in parts alone this summer but mine was a bit of a project car to begin with
