You have 2 coolant drains on the block, one on each side and one on the radiator. Let me know if you need the locations for the ones on the block. Finding a good mechanic is hard. I had the same problem with mine with an inspection II. Had my inspection II done 3 weeks ago. Last Thur. my battery went dead. My self proclaimed BMW expert had to resort to bentley manual to remove the rear seat. He even took the cover off the quik disconnect for the battery looking for attachment screws for the the seat. The battery went dead due to lack of water. The battery caps showed no signs of ever have being removed. He even had to take a hammer and screwdriver to break loose the caps which leads me to beleive that he never checked the water level during the inspection as required I'm thinking of taking him to small claims court.

Anyone know how you go about doing this? My car has very weak coolant to the extent that it boils when you come to a halt from a high speed run, so I need to drain it and refill. This despite having just had an inspection II, I'll be having some very short and direct words with the idiots that did the service on Monday. From now on I find the time to do as much work as I can myself, that way I get it done right.
As I can't find an obvious bleed screw, does this engine self bleed or is the bleed screw hidden under the engine cover?
The car will normally sit with the guage perfectly on the center but as soon as you stop from highway speed it starts to climb. It will start and idle with the guage on center as well, its just heat soak that causes it to go to just below the next segment and vent coolant out of the pressure release. My 735 did this once when a hose split on me and I was forced to top up with water only to get home. I'll check the fan clutch as the same time though, I presume the procedure for this is the same as for the sixes?
I'll be ordering the Bentley manual ASAP, In the meantime I would appreciate any help on this.
