I got hardstart sometimes, but not everytime. Usually got it in the morning...have to keep clunking for like 6 7 seconds in order to start, but sometimes only jus a few seconds. I replaced the starter, doesn't help much. Is it possible I need a new battery or I need a fuel pump. Tried 2 cans of jetrons...still no good? ANy clues?

the crank sensor at the front of the motor is for timing. Their is a TDC and a seperatet timing sensor mounted in the trans bellhousing that uses flywhell teeth to time the ignition.
It sounds like you have a carbon build up on the back of the intake valves. If the problem is worse (longer crank times) with colder temperatures on first start in the am, strongly suspect crud on the intake valves.
A good check is that the car starts normally in cold weather when it sits for 2-3 hours, suspect the valves.
You also have to go through the basics. Valve adjustment, compression, ignition, fuel pressure etc. If these are all ok, then suspect the valves.
There are two solutions. BMW actually makes a tool for blasting crushed walnut shells against the intake valves. It requires removal of the manifold.
The is a fuel injection system cleaner called Motor Vac. that runs a cleaning solution through the injection system that works very well
