Were you using a gauge or just adding refrigerant? If you add too much its got to go somewhere. Sounds like a relief valve. Accumulator is on low pressure side, if you have a blockage or it is overcharged its going to go somewhere. I would hook it up and see what high and low pressure readings are. Is it cooling ?? Bubbles in the sight glass ??? If you replace the bolt, next time it will be a line or the compressor.
The other day I was adding freon to my '89 735IL and it began to leak out of the top of the accumulator. The point that the freon was escaping was a small pin hole in the center of a 14mm bolt facing the front of the car. This bolt was attached to a square piece that sat on top of the accumulator. Why would a hole be in the center of this bolt? How can I find a new bolt with no pin hole or is it sapposed to be there?
