I agree with Lou. I've had a noisy lifter (more noise at the very first start and then after 10 or 15 seconds dispappear). No noise if warm start. After two very consecutive oil changes the noise disappeared. Good syntetic 5-50W oil makes miracles.

I found that if you give the motor a quick rev (just a jab on the accelerator) while the noise is there at start up, the lifter unsticks straight away and you don't have to wait for the 10 or 15 seconds or so.
