Here is my answer for the 92 750 that has owned me for the past 6 years.

500 miles before changing the oil top off with Marvel's myster oil.

At the change, flush motor with a solution of equal parts of kerosene, marvels and ATF (totaling 1 qt). Add with engine warm and run engine for 30 minutes then drain as usual. Top off with good quality 10W40 (or your favorite 5W synthetic if you can stand the leaks). My car had the ticker when I got it and has been purring like a kitten for 5 years now. BTW I also have used Gale's Rislone in other applications and found it to be an efective detergent.

I have had the noise diagnosed as a sticking hydraulic lifter. Has anyone found and replaced one of these. The dealer quoted 36hours at 7 million dollars per hour (might as well have been)
Thanks
