Can anyone shed some light on a possible fix for inoperative instrument lighting on an '88 735il (E32)? The lights that are inop include the background lights on the speedometer panel, heating/airconditioning panel, and the onboard computer panel. Fuses under the hood appear OK. I may have created this problem myself since I recently replaced the radio, but I can't think of anything that would have caused this loss of lighting in that endeavor. In addition, I was experiencing a problem with an intermittent right tail light. On a suggestion from another BMW owner, I tried resoldering some contacts on the lamp control module before figuring out that I just needed to replace the mustard relay (of which I did and the tail lights now work fine). Does anyone know if the instrument lights are controlled by the lamp control module or is there another fix that I am missing? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
