Oil filter is very easy to change. Especially with the easy access from the top of the engine. Be careful on the amount of torque that you apply to the top of the canister as the support for the unit isn't that strong. I have also had trouble finding the correct oil filter for the 750. The oil filters in the local auto parts stores may look correct but the fit the 740 and 735 engines, not the 750. You have to go to the dealer for the correct one.
By the way, does any know how to reset the oil service indicator? I have changed the oil several times but the indicator just kept advancing until I get the "department store" chime every time I start the car.
with a single bolt in the middle. Piece of cake.
It seems strange to do oil change first time on my newly acquired 88 750iL. In other cars I would open the hood and hunt for something orange and cylindrical as the oil filter and change it out. It's a different ball game here. Can someone kindly tell me what to look for under the hood? I got the oil filter core from the dealer. The core is 7 inches long and doesn't look like what is shown in Bentley. Besides, Bentley doesn't specify where to find the cover for the filter -- may be the author thought it was too obvious. BTW, do owners change out other things besides the oil filter core(and used oil) during an oil change?
