Just a thought...could it be that the dimmer wire from the original radio has to be connected or the entire circuit won't work? I know that the original radio dims with the panel lights, and aftermarket units usually do not.

Good point. Any idea which wire controls the dimmer/background lighting function for the stereo? There are 2 POS wires (1 for the ignition ACC function and 1 for the battery) and what appears to be a NEG wire for each). Since the aftermarket radio only had one NEG wire, I ran both of the car's NEG wires to the one stereo NEG wire. It could be that one of car's NEG wires was actually a wire for the background lighting for the BWM stereo. Any thoughts?
