agree with you 100% but.. With the excellent motor oils especially the ones you have in the US some engines can almost last forever. But the problems are the short trips, cold starts etc. I have seen CNG engines after 80,000hrs (9 years more or less continous operation) with bearings and pistons etc. in excellent shape.

One has to understand the beast. I have about 20 miles to the Autobahn. After this I can safely floor the pedal, burning gas and rubber for the next 150mls. Than I have 10 miles with low speed limits (50mls) to more or less wind the engine down. All this will not hurt a good engine. But... when I work on the car, I will not start it, I will push it out of the garage and push it back in. On the other hand I change the oil when the yellow LED is out. I rather burn money on gas than waste it on motor oil prematurely. Ekkehart
