I followed bentley and conducted a quick drag test on the automatic transmission. Briefly, shortly before I arrived at my place of work I stopped at a non-busy road and pulled up hand brake and stepped on foot brake. Then having put the gear in D I stepped on gas with the other foot all the way. (Finish within ten seconds!) Bentley spec'd the dragged RPM to be somewhere from 2000 to 2300, depending on which of the two kinds of transmission one has. Mine is 1750. Wonder if people on this board have done the same test?

Bentley went on to say that if reading is several hundred below spec then the engine's output has been reduced. If 400RPM less than spec or lower then there is problem in the torque convertor stator ....
