I'm in love with a '94 740il with 89K on it. I can buy it for $14-$15K. I don't know at this point if the engine has been replaced. If it has, and it has the "good" block, am I O.K.?

I will use this car to earn my living, I'm a road rep, and drive 30K-35K a year. I Presently drive a '90 MB 300SE and it has been a very reliable car. (260K)

Would you all advise a '94 740il is a good car for my purpose? What kind of fuel mileage should I expect? How much in $ should I expect to spend a year on maintainance?

Thanks

Bill

Two and a half years ago, I was in your shoes. Looked at a 1993 740il with 88K miles. I did look over the service records and saw that a dealership had performed the engine replacement. I bought her.

The odometer now reads 118K, and I am very happy with my decision. She has been great. I am an outside sales rep, so she sees frequent long jaunts. (But I have other cars too, which is why the 30K miles in 2.5 years). The 7 is still my favorite.

Get her checked out by an reputable mechanic, and ENJOY!
