Unplug the electrical connection from the cap and short across the plugs electrical terminals. If the message disappears, then you level sensor is faulty. Simply unplugging the sensor is the same as a low fluid condition...you are opening the normally closed circuit.
I have a 1989 735iL and my message center says "low brake fluid" but my brake fluid is full.
I unplugged the sensor on the cap to see what happens but the message is still there.
Is there a relay somewhere or do I need to replace the sensor?
