Most Bimmer folks swear by the jim conforti chip. Check out http://www.turnermotorsport.com for info on the Conforti and http://www.autothority.com for the autothority chip.

The install involves removing the motronic units from the car, opening them up, and swapping the chip. Just like any other computer. A dealer likely would not charge much to do it . . . although I would avoid an actual BMW dealer and seek out a private mechanic.

A search of the archives will give you more information than you could ever want.

Hi I would like to know how much torque and BHP you actually get out of a chip. Would I need to get both engine and gearbox chips for best performance and what kind of price am I looking at? Sorry by the way I have a 1991 H plate 730 ISE.
