It happened to my prestine 85 325e (before I sold it) and when I bought my 7, it had been keyed on the rear panel. I didn't have either repainted but the $2000 figure does seem a bit low. I would inquire of your insurance agent if you can get several quotes for a repaint job and then negotiate from there. Don't just settle for what they want to give you. It's your car and it should be restored to its previous condition. Keep us informed.

Some f***ing a**hole apparently decided it was in order to key my ENTIRE car last night...the only undamaged panel is the roof. Anyone know what to look for in a paint job? My insurance adjuster came today and estimated about $2000...this sounds low to me, but I have no idea. Anyone have any experience with this? I want something that looks like the factory job...the car previously had not a scratch on it.
