Would it imply that if you killed that axxxole with a gun that you haven't registered under your name, you didn't commit murder? And you can plead to the judge, "no, I didn't do it...the bullet that went through his skull killed the baxxxrd!"?????

IMHO the cops are simply trying to play lazy on you! Should take the case to a lawyer or what have you...

It's the same here in HK...with any traffic incidents or vandalism when no personal injury is involved, the policeman in charge will "advice" you NOT to pursuit giving you all kinds of "reasoning" like the evidence being circumstantial. Don't even listen to him! Take it to someone else and make sure justice is served!

The last time when my baby ('92 735i) was hit by a careless lorry driver (HK$23,000 or US$2,900 damage!) the traffic cop told me that it was a "no case" and that I'd probably lose if I went to court. Then with the help of a friend of mine who happens to be a cop, they completely turned around and said they will file the incident and "pressure" the axxxole into settling. Turned out I got him to pay HK$14,000 with the help of these clowns in cash before the case even went to court!
