A couple of points - First, I ordered the kits for the valve but found that the cartridge type of inserts that are the most common, do not fit. (I have a "91 750iL and a '91 735il, and both use the same valve. I have had to replace both of them.) Secondly - I highly suspect the IHKA controller and have checked just about everything. As a temporary measure I have connected a switched secondary ground wire to the left side valve (the culprit side) and diode isolated both it and the ground wire back to the IHKA. This required a relay in the circuit because the hot wire to the water valves does not turn off with the ignition. When I turn the switch ON, the valve is grounded and I get no hot air coming through. It works just fine, but it is still a temportary fix. I hope that there is someone out there who has a handle on reparing these IHKA units. I'm still looking. Please post anything you learn about this on the board Regards Ok, I have been dealing with this problem for a while. My 89 750 has hot air that comes from both defrost vents (drivers and passengers side, windshield and side door vents). Additionally, hot air comes from the front center vent on the passenger side. The HAVAC unit temperture wheel works only on the drivers side.I have changed the heater conrol valve already. The stealer gave me a diagram showing the actuator motors and prices that are criminal. Is it possible that my problem is with the HAVAC control unit based upon the above description? Also the stealer gave me a price of $695 for a Heater control Modulater( long narrow part between the heater box and fire wall. Any ideas anyone?
